Nicholas Leong - PCACS International Student

At PCACS we are fortunate to host a young man, Nicholas Leong who is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Nicholas comes to our School through the ASC International (ASCI) Programme.

Nicholas anticipates he will be in our school community for Year 10, 11 and 12 and will reside with his Uncle and Aunty in Aubin Grove throughout that time. Nicholas also has a Wellbeing supervisor who will visit him regularly to check on his progress at School and offer him support throughout his time in Perth.

Marketing & Community Engagement Officer, Mr Cam Allen sat down with Nicholas briefly to find out a little more about this young man.

Mr Allen:  Hi Nicholas, Welcome to our School.  How are you finding your first week so far?
Nicholas:  I am enjoying it very much, everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

Mr Allen:  Do you have any other siblings back home?
Nicholas:  Yes, I have three older brothers, they are quite a bit older than me, actually they are in their thirties!

Mr Allen:  What inspired you to choose Perth, Australia to complete your Secondary studies?
Nicholas:  I actually wanted to study in a new environment.  I had heard about the ASC International Programme and discussed it with my parents.  We thought it would be a great opportunity for me to study overseas and we had been to Australia a couple of time before, Brisbane previously and actually Perth last December.  After that visit I thought this would be a good fit for me.  I think the whole experience will benefit me.

Mr Allen:  How are you finding living in Aubin Grove and attending PCACS?
Nicholas:  It is a very relaxed place overall and I feel it will benefit my studies.  There are also so many activities where I live and Perth in general, everything is so close!   I think it will be a good balance for me.  I also think I will get more time to study here.

Mr Allen:  Do you have an idea of what you may like to do after you finish your studies?
Nicholas:  I am not entirely sure yet, but I was thinking probably I might look at doing Law in the future.  I will see how my studies go.

Nicholas has settled in to his new 'home away from home' and looks forward to embracing all of the opportunities PCACS has to offer.
