Empowering Young Women

On Wednesday 28 October, the Year 8 girls were lucky enough to participate in a mini-mentoring session focused on 'Leadership for Women'.  Kathy Lewi (Chemical Engineer), Laki Baker (Television Producer), Belinda Honess (Director of Charities - Perth Children's Hospital), Mayor Carol Adam OAM (Mayor of Kwinana),  Kate Robertson (One for Women CEO) as well as our own leaders, Felicity House (School Principal), Rev Kim (School Chaplain/former Police Officer) and Aneta Ward (Teacher and Volunteer Firefighter) were invited to speak with our students, sharing their own personal and professional journeys.

This was a seed of inspiration for the students with conversations focused on personal career decisions, goal setting, having good mentors in life, challenges faced in gender imbalanced workplaces, pathways taken to achieve business success, personal goal-setting and developing self-confidence.

All eight speakers, with their wealth of expertise, knowledge and experience provided valuable snapshots for our girls, offering good advice and discussing steps to develop the right mindset to succeed in life.

A huge thank you to Year 8 Coordinator Vicki Musson-Brown for organising this opportunity for our students.
