Vocational Education
Peter Carnley Anglican Community School offers a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses as part of its broad suite of offerings to Senior School students. This year, the School has offered the following Certificate II and Certificate III options:
- Certificate II and III Outdoor Recreation
- Certificate II Community Service
- Certificate II Music Industry
- Certificate II Visual Arts
- Certificate II and III Business
- Certificate II Building and Construction (Pre Apprenticeship)

Certificate II and III Outdoor Recreation
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in performing core skills in outdoor recreation environments and assisting with the conduct of a range of outdoor activities.
Work may be undertaken as part of a team and would be performed under supervision. Work would be undertaken in field locations such as camps or at indoor recreation centres or facilities, in differing environments such as water-based, dry land and mountainous terrains, using a wide range of equipment.
Certificate II Community Services
The Certificate II in Community Services is a great choice for students wanting a pathway into the workforce as community services workers. Students gain the foundation skills required to communicate with clients and exchange routine information, as well respond to their immediate needs. The course places a great emphasis on interpersonal skills, personal safety and working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Certificate II in Music Industry
This is a practical music course for students who wish to further develop their skills in creating, performing and recording music. They will improve their creative and performance skills by working on individual and group projects and also gain a better understanding of key elements of the music industry, such as recording and current trends and advances in music technology. The course introduces basic musical and sound concepts, students will learn skills that will enable them to play music or sing, make a music demo, use technical equipment and computers, record and edit sound and prepare for performance.
Certificate II Visual Arts
These are highly practical courses that cover painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and drawing. They lead to qualifications which allow learners to develop the basic creative and technical skills that underpin visual arts and craft practice. Students will develop a portfolio of work that may assist with entry into higher education courses in Visual Arts.
Certificate II and III Business
These qualifications are designed to reflect the role of employees who perform a range of tasks in the business industry sector and may involve some multi-tasking. The courses are suitable for those considering a career in business administration. Students will learn skills that can be used in a wide range of occupations and will enhance their employment opportunities.
Certificate II Building and Construction (Pre Apprenticeship)
Trained in partnership with Skill Hire WA.
The Trades pathway offers students entry into a range of different construction trades highly suited to today's construction industry. In Year 11, students train in core areas of trades and undertake compulsory work experience placement. In Year 12, students will add to their skills base by completing specific trade training to industry standards (work ready) as well as additional, compulsory work experience.
