KIC Art Awards Winners

The Kwinana Industries Youth Art Awards provides a fantastic opportunity to feature student artwork from a number of secondary schools in the region.

Kwinana Industries Council in conjunction with Tianqi Lithium and Coogee Chemicals was proud to host the 2019 Youth Arts Awards on Wednesday 13 March at the Gary Holland Community Centre.  These Art awards featured work across the categories of Visual Art, Digital Media, Fabrics, Woodwork and Metalwork.

Congratulations to Kristy Read – Shaw (2018 Year 12) who was the winner of the Fabric and Jewellery category. Kristy designed and made a costume based on the theme “Steampunk”. Her target market was young females who like to dress up for cosplay, want good value for money and something original and unique. Kristy considered environmental issues when designing and explored ways to make the garment environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Congratulations also to Yara Roaen (Year 9) who was awarded a Highly Commended for her laminated meranti and jarrah fruit bowl which earned high praise from the judges.
