Operation Op Shop

In support of Homelessness Week 2019, the YMAD students have planned an event called Operation Op Shop for students in Years 2 to 12.  The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the role of op shops in our communities and how we can responsibly and ethically donate clothes and household items.  All money raised will be donated to the Anglicare Street Connect Bus as a part of the Anglicare WA School Sleep Out.  The Anglicare Street Connect team run a programme that aims to make connections with marginalised young people who gather regularly in public places and engage them in positive life changes.

How to get involved:

  • Op Shop Dress Up
  • Pop Up Op Shop
  • Soup Van

Three steps to being involved:

  • Purchase clothes from a local op shop to support our community and wear them to School on Friday 16 August
  • Donate $2 to Anglicare Street Connect Bus (collected by tutor and class teachers on the day)
  • Donate the clothes you wear back to an op shop or bring them in washed and ready to be donated on Monday 18 August.  Clothes will be donated to the Anglicare Op Shops.  This is optional.

There will be prizes for the following:

  • Craziest/Most Colourful Outfit
  • Best Retro/Vintage Outfit
  • Fanciest Outfit
  • Best Group Outfit
  • Most Participation from a Class/Tutor Group

Students are invited to donate items of clothing to the PCACS Pop Up Op Shop.  Donated clothes must be:

  • Free of stains, tears or damage
  • Washed
  • Brought in on a hanger
  • Brought to school no later than Thursday 15 August

The Pop Up Shop will be open at recess and lunch on Operation Op Shop day.  Items can be purchased for a gold coin donation.  Unsold items will be donated to the Anglicare Op Shops.

Soup and rolls will be available for $3 at lunchtime.  Please note that this will be served in the style of a soup van and will be on a first come, first served basis.
