Term 2 is coming to a close
As this longer than normal term draws to a close, the staff and students are looking forward to a well-earned break. It has been a very rewarding semester with much to celebrate. As the Semester One reports become available, I encourage everyone to spend time reviewing and reflecting on the successes and challenges of the semester. Reports are designed to provide feedback to parents but also for students to set new goals for the semester ahead. I thank the staff for preparing thoughtful report comments to encourage reflection and growth.
Founders’ Day
Each year we celebrate the vision and foresight of our Founders with a Founders’ Day Service followed by a range of fun activities for students to enjoy. Founders’ Day is held in June to signify the time when the site at Wellard was blessed in readiness for the first buildings to be constructed. We are now in our 14th year at Wellard, with the Calista campus opening in our 10th year. A number of significant guests joined our Founders’ Day Service including The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy AO (Archbishop of Perth), The Most Reverend Dr Peter Carnley AC and his wife Mrs Ann Carnley, Mayor Carol Adams, Mr Mike Giles (Chief Operating Officer ASC), Mr Philip Goldsworthy (Chair of PCACS Council) and members of School Council. The day continued with buddy activities, a whole school picnic lunch, House activities and the Junior School colour run.

The 2022 Scholarship recipients were announced during the Service. With a strong field, our decision was a difficult one. Congratulations to our first round of recipients. Another round will be offered later in the year.

Northern Territory Tour
A group of students have been patiently waiting since 2020 when the trip to the Northern Territory was postponed due to travel restrictions. Fingers crossed, the group will head off next Wednesday to Darwin, travelling to Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield to enjoy the ancient beauty and culture of the NT. We wish them well. Options for a 2022 Tour are now being considered and the tour details will be announced later in the year.
Building Update
The Chapel moves to a new stage with the construction of the mezzanine floor to the nave. The steel has been delivered and preparations for the placement of the steel is well underway. The skyline will look quite different after the holidays once the steel goes up! In the meantime, The Hub development has progressed to the Tender stage. The builder will be selected in the coming weeks with the building to commence in Term 3. A naming competition was launched on Founders’ Day, where the students were invited to suggest names for The Hub. Parents and staff are welcome to add their suggestions to the list via Principalpa@pcacs.wa.edu.au. The new name will be announced later in the year.
Best of luck for the last week of term everyone.
We farewell Mrs Marinella Piccirillo and Mrs Carly Follington who leave us at the end of this term. We thank both of them for their contribution to PCACS and wish them well in the future.
Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all back in Term 3.
God bless.
Ms Felicity House
