Term Three continues with all the fun of events and carnivals. Thank you to all our families for their support of our students as they prepare for these memorable and enriching events. Your efforts are appreciated.
Operation Op Shop and Anglicare Schools Sleepout
Generosity of spirit was highlighted through our Operation Op Shop Day on 9 August which fell on the same day as the Anglicare Sleepout. Students and staff at Wellard dressed in op shop attire and held a pop-up op shop and soup kitchen to raise awareness and funds for Anglicare. As always, we had one of the highest turnouts at the Anglicare Sleep Out with 33 students and 4 staff attending. Congratulations to everyone involved in the day, and especially those brave souls who slept out for the night. Of special note are our Service Learning Coordinator, Mrs Melanie Hunt and Service Captain, Mia who organised the day. PCACS raised $20685, our highest total ever, making us the third highest fundraising school. Deputy Head Prefect, Christopher raised $7612 making him the second highest individual fund raiser in the State. This was a truly impressive effort. Anglicare are grateful for our participation and sent well wishes, noting our incredible capacity to act and give.
Wakakirri Dance Competition
Congratulations to the Senior School Dance Troupe on winning a State Award and being nominated for a National Award. Please see the article from Mr Ty Barwick for results.
Senior School Interhouse Athletics Carnival
In a blaze of colour and House spirit, the 2024 Senior School Interhouse Athletics Carnival was held last Friday. We were blessed with a perfect mild day, a contrast to the wet weather of the week and weekend. Congratulations to the Health and PE Department for running a superb Carnival and to the House Captains and Year 12s who inspired the students on the day. Many records were broken, I am sure as our athletes were inspired by the recent Olympic Games. Congratulations to our Champions and Runners Up. Please see the full results in the Senior School section of the newsletter.
Book Week
Both Campuses were a sea of costumes this week as we celebrated ‘Reading is Magic’ for Book Week. Costume parades, book quizzes and Book Week activities are fun but sitting deeper is the message of the importance of reading in our lives and in the lives of our young ones. I hope Book Week inspires you to grab a favourite book from your childhood to read to your child and to read one for yourself.
Welcome Tours
We welcomed 40 prospective new families on our recent Welcome Tours. Our tours provide an opportunity for families to see what PCACS can offer. Places are filling fast for Kindergarten and Year 7 for both 2025 and 2026 so if you have family and friends who are interested in placements, please encourage them to get in touch soon.
God bless,
Ms Felicity House
