Week 10, Term 2
I am sure that I am not alone in my relief that this very unusual semester has come to an end. This year started with a sense of excitement for the new decade ahead but rapidly descended into a time of restrictions and hyper vigilance. Even though schools all over Australia readied themselves for months of online learning, we were lucky to move off site for a relatively short period of time. It is refreshing to be able to plan for Semester Two with a comparatively ‘normal’ calendar ahead of us. I thank our staff and families for their adaptability and strength during this unpredictable time. I am very proud of the way our community has responded to the challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been refreshing to see restrictions lifting in the final days of this term, allowing us to hold some events including the Senior School and Junior School Cross Country. We have hosted two Transition to Senior School evenings for current and future families as well as Cybersafety sessions for both students and parents.
ASC RAP
In the presence of The Archbishop, Kay Goldsworthy AO, the Anglican Schools Commission launched its Reconciliation Action Plan. As a member of the working party, I am very proud to see our ideas formulated into a RAP, now registered by Reconciliation Australia. Year 12 student Faith Clowry spoke at the launch about the significance of the RAP. Our task now is to bring the document to life in our School. If anyone from our community is interested in being involved, please contact my office on principal@pcacs.wa.edu.au
Visit by The Honourable Madeleine King, Member for Brand
This week, The Hon. Madeleine King visited our Year 6 students to discuss the work of members of parliament. The students were given the opportunity to ask questions and explore the world of politics from the perspective of the Shadow Minister for Trade. Madeleine was born in Kwinana and studied law before becoming the Member for Brand. She gifted a Torres Strait Islander flag for the Year 6s to add to their rotation of flags, together with a new Australian and Aboriginal flag.
Staff News
We say goodbye to Ms Breanna Hunter as she leaves teaching to pursue her passion for wellbeing. We also thank Miss Ellyse Jones as we welcome back Mrs Khetarpal next term from Long Service Leave. Miss Sophie Warner also leaves us during the holidays at the completion of her contract. We wish them well in their future endeavours.
Best wishes for the Holidays
I wish our families a safe and restful holiday. We are looking forward to many of our usual activities coming back in Term 3 when students return on Tuesday 21 July.
God Bless!
Ms Felicity House
