We are almost half way through the term and much has happened since our last newsletter. Congratulations to our KSSA cross country team who won last week and brought home the shield. This week we celebrated our Semester One achievements in the Senior School with an Awards Assembly. Congratulations to the students from Year 7 to 12 who achieved Academic Excellence or Personal Best Awards with some students achieving both awards.
Chapel Update
The Chapel has now grown out of the foundations in dramatic style, with the skyline changing daily. The placement of the cross and artwork into their resting places has been very exciting! The word is out and we have hosted a number of significant visitors to share in the progress of the building, notably Bishop Kate Wilmot, Archdeacon Angela Webb and ASC CEO Reverend Peter Laurence. The build is on track to be completed late in Term 4, ready for 2022.
Xanadu
Congratulations to all the cast and crew for their dramatic interpretation of this loved production. I had the pleasure of attending Opening Night with members of the School Council, Executive and staff. What a stunning performance! Accolades go to Ms Alicia Walter, Ms Danielle Jones and all those who worked so hard to bring this wonderful performance together. A special note of thanks to the live band who provided the music.
Anglican Schools Australia (ASA) Conference
Along with our Chair of Council, Mr Philip Goldsworthy and Reverend Kim, we attended the ASA Conference over the past two days. With current travel restrictions, we met in conference virtually with Anglican School Principals, Chairs and Chaplains from across Australia to explore the theme Intersection ‘What does it mean for Anglican schools to be at the intersection of faith and learning?’ Rev Kim and I were inspired by the speakers and look forward to bringing some of the ideas from the conference to our school.
Staff News
We congratulate Mr Shane Parnell, Head of IT and Operations on his appointment to Director of Technology at the Anglican Schools Commission from January 2022. Shane has spent nearly twelve months on secondment in a part time capacity with the ASC. I thank Shane for balancing the two roles but it soon became apparent that his skills are best served across our ASC network of Schools. After eight years at PCACS we will farewell Mr Parnell at the end of this year. As a result and due to growing enrolments, we are now seeking applications for a Head of Operations and an ICT Manager. Details are on the School website and Seek.
We welcome Mrs Annemarie Van Heerden who will be joining us as we farewell Mrs Kim Gianoli.
God bless
Ms Felicity House
