It was wonderful to welcome everyone back for the start of Semester Two. I spoke at the Principal’s Assembly about fear and not letting fear stop you from taking on new challenges, encouraging everyone to try something new and to push through the fear created by stepping out of your comfort zone. It’s a great challenge for all of us. I asked the students to try new things this semester or to even consider going back to something they loved that they haven’t done for a while. The Year 12s are now finalising their days at school and are looking forward, with mixed emotions, to a term filled with ‘lasts’ including their last School photo, last athletics carnival, last Book Week and last Arts and Tech week. I’m sure they will make the most of these final experiences of PCACS life.
100 Days of School
As the journey for Year 12s is coming to an end, it is only just beginning for our early learners. On Tuesday we celebrated 100 Days of School for our Pre Primary and Year 1 students at the Calista assembly. To mark this significant occasion, the students and staff dressed in the theme of 100. Some of the costumes were very convincing. I’m still not sure if the day made me feel old or somehow quite young? Either way, the growth of our Calista students is very apparent as they develop their skills, knowledge and confidence in these vital years of early learning.
New Staff and Students
We welcomed 12 new students and several new staff this term. Mr Craig Spence has started in his role as Business Manager. I thank Mrs Karen Redman for holding the Acting position in the interim. Mr Spence comes to us as an experienced financial manager, most recently in a school setting and prior in a number of notable organisations including Murdoch University, Crown Perth and BGC. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Accounting (Curtin), MBA (Deakin University) Fellow CPA and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. We wish him well as he takes on the role. The building programme and 2023 Budgets are the first priority in a comprehensive portfolio of finance, administration, buildings and grounds. We also welcomed Mrs Karen Lee to Administration, Miss Amy Normoyle in Senior School and we welcomed back Ms Kierin Janes to a classroom role in Junior School. We wish them well as they settle into PCACS life.
All the best for the Term 3!
God bless.
Ms Felicity House
