Week 4 Term 3
This is the time of year when we look to identify our future student leaders. The Year 11 students and the Year 6 students will begin the process of leadership selection to become our 2021 School Prefects and Junior School Captains over the coming weeks. The Prefects this year, ably lead by our Head Boy Mitchell Mullineux and Head Girl Shekinah Wilkinson, are shining examples of outstanding leaders within our student body. They follow in the footsteps of the fine leaders who have gone before them and strive to leave their own legacy. In this year of disappointment and disruption, I have been impressed by the drive and determination of our Prefects to inspire their fellow students and encourage a positive and caring approach to their school experience.
These past weeks have seen the PCACS students making a real difference both in our school and in the wider community. Operation Op Shop, the Anglicare Sleepout, the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, the Senior School House Carnival and the WAASA Student Leaders Reunion are a few notable occasions where students in our school have stepped up to use their voice and actions to affect change. We are constantly reminded that young people in our school have a passion and drive to make a real difference. A number of students have stepped forward to identify sustainability, humanitarian and environmental projects and these projects are being explored so that we can use this collective energy to great effect. I look forward to sharing these ideas with you in the coming months.
Personal Best
At PCACS a personal best philosophy underpins everything we do. This year we have added an award in Senior School to recognise the students who have displayed the Learning Attributes of Engagement, Organisation, Classroom Attitude and Initiative and Independence in addition to Academic Excellence. Together with the Learner Strengths awarded in Junior School, our students are recognised for striving to be the best that they can be.
WAASA Student Leaders Reunion
I had the privilege of accompanying our Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputy Head Prefects to the join the Archbishop last week for the Western Australian Anglican Schools Association (WAASA) Student Leaders Reunion. The Archbishop has a keen interest in the thoughts and dreams of young people and was once a School Chaplain. Each year she provides a unique opportunity for the Perfects of Anglican Schools across the State to join her for a leaders training day and this reunion provided an opportunity for the students to share their leadership journey and accomplishments of the year. In a year that has weighed heavily on the shoulders of Year 12s, the power of sharing experiences with leaders from other schools was deeply meaningful. Mitchell, Shekinah, Lona and Manaia joined student leaders from Guildford Grammar, Perth College, Swan Valley Anglican Community School and as far afield as Georgiana Molloy Anglican School in Busselton. Our Head Boy features on the Video summary of the occasion. Link below

Operation Op Shop and Anglicare Sleepout
Our School Mission ends with “to raise awareness of those who live in need beyond our gates” and this was played out last week with the Operation Op Shop and Anglicare Sleepout. Thank you to Mrs Weddikkara and her students for leading this inspiring day. The kaleidoscope of colour and originality of outfits on the day was a joy to behold. I thank the brave souls who spent the night sleeping rough to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by people who find themselves homeless. There are further details later in the newsletter but I take this opportunity to thank our PCACS Community for their generosity in supporting this initiative. Our community raised over $8290 which will go to the Anglicare Street Connect Bus, placing us in the Top 5 Fundraising Schools in the State. Great job! Click HERE to see some of the highlights.
Senior School Athletics
The spirit of competition was alive and well today at the Senior School Athletics Carnival. Not only did we witness record breaking performances and fiercely fought challenges, there was also a wonderful spirit of participation and support for others. Congratulations to all our Champions and Runners Up and all those who have been chosen for the ACC team. Congratulations to Laurence for winning the House trophy.
Parents and Friends AGM
With the new constitution passed at the Special General Meeting, we now move to the AGM where the office bearers will be voted in to form the 2021 Management Committee, allowing a term of handover for any new appointments to the Committee. The Parents and Friends organise events to ‘friend raise’ and contribute to the School through events and experiences. It would be wonderful to see some new faces join us at the AGM or to assist with upcoming events. God bless
