Week 6
The spring-like weather has set a delightful backdrop to the events of the past two weeks. Congratulations to our Junior School Cross Country Team who won the Interschool Cross Country carnival. Science Week was spectacular again this year. The Science Week theme this year was Deep Blue: Innovations for the future of our oceans. The staff and students across the School embraced activities both in and out of the classroom. Thank you to the Science Department for their inspiration.
This week we awarded the Academic Excellence and Personal Best Awards to the Year 10, 11 and 12 students in recognition of their outstanding efforts in Semester One. The Personal Best Award is new this year and acknowledges the students who have displayed the Learning Attributes of Engagement, Organisation, Classroom Attitude and Initiative and Independence
We hosted Year 6 students from our Junior School together with those applying from further afield at our Voyager Activities Day on Tuesday. This day forms part of the selection process for Voyager, our specialist programme for students displaying an aptitude for Music, Mathematics, Science or English. The students enjoyed the challenges and the opportunity to meet the new students.
Year 12s
The Year 12s are now in their final weeks of formal schooling. As such, we are preparing for their final events including the hand over to the 2021 Perfects. This week the Year 12s spent time with the Year 2 students who are preparing a gift to present at the Valedictory Assembly.
2021 Prefects
The process to select the 2021 Prefects is well and truly underway. Our 2021 candidates have written testimonials to me outlining their vision for the role and will take to the stage to deliver their speeches to the Senior School next week before voting on Friday 4 September. Thank you to those who have applied, it takes courage to put yourself forward. We wish them well as the process continues to interview stage.
P&F AGM
The P&F AGM is being held on Wednesday 2 September 2020 in the Administration Seminar Room at 6pm. I look forward to our parents supporting this to establish the committee for the next 12 months.
God bless.
