I am mindful that I write this newsletter on RUOK Day. The world has changed dramatically in the past 18 months. Amongst the good news stories has been the focus on relationships and looking after each other. At PCACS we actively encourage our community to be respectful, to care and to be involved in activities that are good for the soul. A significant message is seeking help and to know when to come forward for self or others when things are simply not OK. On this RUOK Day, we are reminded to meaningfully connect with people around us and to start a conversation with those who might need help.
Staying involved and active is a signature of life at PCACS. It has been another busy fortnight of activities and excursions for our students. We have hosted Junior School Athletics Carnival days, Learner Strengths Days, Armed for Life, The Great PCACS Bake Off, Creative Writing workshops, ATAR Health Studies Wheelchair Presentation, a Snake Awareness incursion and the Calista Bookfair. Students have been out and about at the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, visiting the Zoo, competing in the ACC Athletics Carnival, YOH Fest and participating in the ASC Schools Week culminating in the ASC Biennial Music Concert.

ASC Combined Schools Week
Last week was ASC Schools Week and we celebrated the life of the 14 Schools within the Anglican Schools Commission. Members of each community gathered for the celebratory Eucharist on Wednesday at St George’s Cathedral with Archbishop Kay presiding. I was joined by Chair of Council Mr Philip Goldsworthy, Rev Kim and a host of PCACS students. Our Year 9 student, Jeremy Clowry made a powerful statement as he led the procession playing the didgeridoo with Head Boy, James Wigfield and Head Girl, Audrey Sullivan serving as banner bearers with Year 10 student, Stephanie Beaumont Cabrera leading the intercessional prayers.
As part of the week's celebrations, PCACS music students also participated in the ASC Combined Schools Concert on Friday night at the Perth Concert Hall. This event brings together musicians and vocalists from all ASC schools to perform in a variety of ensembles. Over 30 PCACS students were involved in this amazing opportunity to perform fabulous and challenging pieces with professional conductors in a prestigious venue. The evening was stunning. Our students Audrey Sullivan and Zyllah Day along with Prefects from the other Schools assisted in introducing performances during the evening. I thank all of the PCACS students involved in this. The music talent on display was sensational. The rehearsals have spanned weeks, including weekends and involved travelling to other ASC Schools within Perth. I thank Ms Alicia Walter for leading the PCACS contribution to the ASC Schools Week Concert.
Youth on Health Festival
Congratulations to our students who participated in the Youth on Health (YOH) Festival. Thank you to Ms Walter for giving this opportunity to our students through the Co Curricular dance programme.
The dances were all choreographed and rehearsed by Year 11 students Claudia Howatson, Bridie Jones and Shauna Pearson exploring the health message of "Keeping Up With Appearances" and the pressures of social media on young people. Shriddhi Ghimire was an exceptional volunteer for the event assisting behind the scenes.
All three of our dances were awarded Certificates of Merit:
Senior Dance Duo – Certificate of Merit for Creative Endeavour
Junior Dance Troupe – Certificate of Merit for Visual Appeal
Senior Dance Troupe – Certificate of Merit for Artistic Choreography
Congratulations to all involved!
