Week 8
RUOK? I wonder what your answer is? Good health, both mental and physical is central to all our lives. Sometimes we are thriving, sometimes we are just doing OK, but sometimes, we are not OK. Looking after each other is pivotal to a healthy and caring community. At PCACS we actively encourage our School community to care for self and others and to be involved in activities that are good for the soul. The key message on RUOK Day is to seek help when things are not going so well, to know when and how to come forward for self or others when things are simply not OK. RUOK Day reminds us to meaningfully connect with people around us and to start a conversation with those who might need help. The 2023 theme is “I’m here to hear”. RUOK Day is a significant event in our School calendar, as we support our students to build relationships and attend to their mental wellbeing with a day of activities to lift mood and enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to Mrs Rebecca Weddikkara and the staff for organising a meaningful day of activities. Being there for each other is at the heart of our community at PCACS.
ASC Piano Competition
A contingent of 22 PCACS students travelled to Peter Moyes Anglican Community School to participate in the annual ASC Piano Competition last week. Congratulations to Azaleia Jair Harris for her 1st place in the Integrity category and to Sharon Kemboi and Emily Saito-Noble for their 2nd placements respectively in the Justice category and Excellence category. Thank you to Mrs Lucy Roberts, Mr Ty Barwick, Ms Alicia Walter and parent helper Ms Saito for accompanying our students.
Junior School Athletics Carnival
Winter graced us with a stunning last day of weather for Day 1 of the Junior School Athletics Carnival. Year 2 to 6 students participated in Races, Relays, Leaderball and Passball. The cooler weather was welcomed for Day 2 when the Pre Primary and Year 1 Students joined Years 2 to 6 students at Wellard Oval for the morning. Much fun was had in Sprints and the Tabloid rotations (Flag Race, Sack Race, Target Throw, Egg and Spoon Race to name a few) whilst the older students had Jumping, Throwing and Middle-distance running events. Thank you to Mrs Rhiannon Chapman and Ms Kierin Janes and the Junior School Staff for a wonderful carnival for our students.
ACC Interschool Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to the PCACS Athletics Team who represented our School at the ACC Interschool Athletics Carnival on Monday. Competing at the WA State Athletics Stadium, our team of 96 students competed fiercely all day, coming third overall. Our girls were a standout, winning the team shields for the Senior Female and Overall Female categories. Thank you Mr Simon Bell, Mr Chris Harry and Mrs Karen Layman for preparing the team and Mrs Natascha Clark and our student helpers for assisting the ACC with recording duties on the day.
P&F AGM
The P&F AGM is fast approaching. All parents belong to the P&F, and the AGM is held to decide the office bearers for the P&F Committee. The Committee have worked closely with Mr Adam Halliday this year to contribute to playground equipment along with the many events they have supported. I hope you will consider coming along to the AGM to hear more about the work of the P&F Committee and vote for those who have nominated for positions. The P&F AGM will be held on Wednesday 13 September in the Administration Seminar Room at 6.30pm.
God bless.
Ms Felicity House
