Term 4 has started with a backdrop of warm weather and an atmosphere of finishing well. The Year 12 Valedictory and Year 11 Camp are significant milestones, setting the scene for transition. This theme will continue next week as we announce the student leaders for 2024. In an eventful start to the Term, the Year 2s and 12s enjoyed their final buddy time together at the Kwinana Adventure Park for their Buddy Day. Our Music students travelled to Frederick Irwin Anglican School for the Middle School Band Day, another group enjoyed Mary Poppins, whilst some Year 5s and 6s went to the Scitech Challenge Day. A fresh batch of Baristas completed their training in readiness to serve in Carnley’s Cuppas and RKAS sport started for the term. What a start to Term 4!
The Class of 2023
The time has come for the Year 12s to venture beyond our gates. To honour their time at PCACS, we held a moving Valedictory Assembly where the staff and students paid tribute to the Year 12s. The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, CEO of the Anglican Schools Commission and Chair of School Council, Mr Philip Goldsworthy joined our Assembly with a surprise guest, Mr Keith Lindbeck, Foundation Chair of Council. The Head Boy and Head Girl spoke on behalf of the Year 12s to thank and farewell the School. After a year of magical buddy time together, the Year 2 students presented each Year 12 with a candle and a personalised letters were exchanged. There was not a dry eye in the house when the Year 2s sang “You’re on Your Way”. At the end, the younger students formed a guard of honour. This glorious PCACS tradition is truly uplifting to watch. As the Year 12s pass, the younger students cheer and wave to the ‘big kids’, finally gathering at the cross at the front of the school. We followed on that evening with our Valedictory Eucharist and Dinner. Thank you to The Right Reverend Kate Wilmot for leading our Eucharist Service in the beautiful Grace Chapel. Congratulations to Director of Pastoral Care, Mrs Rebecca Weddikkara and Year 12 Coordinator, Mrs Natascha Clark and the team of staff who organised a fitting a series of farewells for the Year 12s, culminating in the Valedictory Dinner in the KLC.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Class of 2023 all the best for the future. I have no doubt they leave PCACS with strong values and bright futures ahead of them. They will be missed.
Student Leadership
Growth of student and future leaders comes in many forms at PCACS. The 2023 Prefects have left a lasting legacy with the creation of Spirit Week to honour our House Patrons in the week leading up to Founders’ Day. This adds to the fabric of PCACS with a number of significant events borne out of ideas from our Prefects including Crazy Hair and Sock Day. On Thursday 26 October, we will announce our 2024 Prefects together with the Junior School Captains. Good luck to all the candidates. I can’t wait to see how these new leaders grasp their roles and bring new ideas to life. The assembly will be held in the KLC commencing at 8:45am. Parents are welcome to attend.
All the best for the rest of Term 4!
God bless.
