Term 4 has started well. The Chapel continues to evolve with the roof sheeting now in place. The internal layout is now apparent with the walls and windows in place. Rev Kim and I are busy planning 2022 services and events for the Chapel. The Hub project is also progressing with the majority of the demolition work completed, underground services laid and the ground floor slab has been poured. This slab gives us a glimpse of the size of the ground floor. Very exciting!
A number of events have been held in these first weeks of Term. The Year 11s braved a cold and blustery night for their Year 11 River Cruise on the Monday night before school started. Their energy and dancing skill was impressive. Music students went to Frederick Irwin Anglican School for the Middle School Band Day. The Year 2s and 12s enjoyed time at the Kwinana Adventure Park for their Buddy Day. Thank you to the P&F for assisting with the lunch for these buddies. The Senior boys participated in a workshop, A Stitch in Time, run by ex-Wildcats players Greg Hire and Brad Robbins, exploring strategies to promote positive mental health. What a start to Term 4!
The Class of 2021
There comes a time when the Year 12s are ready to venture beyond our gates. That time has come for our Class of 2021. To honour their time at PCACS, we held a moving Valedictory Assembly where the staff and students paid tribute to the Year 12s. The Year 6 students sang ‘Unstoppable’ and the Year 2 students presented each Year 12 with a gift and a personalised letter. The Head Boy and Head Girl spoke on behalf of the Year 12s. At the end, the younger students formed a guard of honour. This glorious PCACS tradition is truly uplifting to watch. As the Year 12s pass, the younger students cheer and wave to the ‘big kids’, finally gathering at the cross at the front of the school. We followed on that evening with our Valedictory Eucharist and Dinner. Thank you to Bishop Kate Wilmot for leading our Eucharist Service.
The Class of 2021 have been a caring, bonded group of students. They were the first group of Year 12s to run House Competitions for the younger students, creating wonderful experiences. Their focus on equality and inclusion has been notable and their legacy will be well remembered. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Class of 2021 all the best for the future. I have no doubt they will leave PCACS with strong values and bright futures ahead of them. They will be missed.
