The End of Year is in Sight
It is with excitement and trepidation that I view the weeks ahead in the PCACS Calendar. As the final weeks of the School year approach, the calendar is full of end of year events both traditional and additional. As the ATAR exams have finished, we wish the Year 12s well as they await their results. The Year 10 and 11 students have also completed their exams this week. I wish all our students well as they prepare for final assessments.
The Year 9s are now preparing for the final stages of The Rite Journey with their camp and final ceremony in the coming weeks. The Year 10s are readying themselves for Work Experience to equip them with insights into their chosen work placements. PCACS is one of few schools to support a work experience programme. It is testimony to our commitment to preparing future ready students.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is a significant occasion in the PCACS calendar as we come together as a community to remember the sacrifices made by those men and women who have served our country. We honour all those who have died in war, and hold with high respect all those who are still serving in regions of conflict around the world. We held our own service in the KLC last Friday which included all the students here for Transition Day also. I thank the cadets and the Music students and staff for their contribution to the service.
Lest we forget.
2023 Transition Day
There was much excitement on Friday at Transition Day. Joyous sounds of Year 6s from our Junior School and from local primary schools were also heard throughout the School as the 2023 Year 7s came into Senior School for the day. With over sixty five students joining our transitioning Junior School students, we have our largest group of Year 7s starting Senior School next year. The most excited were the Year 1s who came across from Calista to Wellard to be Year 2s for the day. All these students made the beginnings of new friendships and we can’t wait to see them again for Orientation Day in January.
Carols on the Green
The Carols on the Green event on Tuesday 29 November will begin with a Community Picnic at 4.00pm, with the Carols Service beginning on the oval at 6.00pm. Thank you to the P&F for organising the food trucks. Carnley’s Cuppas will also be open, operated by our student baristas. We will be supporting the Anglicare WA Christmas Appeal by collecting gold coin donations and raffling Christmas hampers. You can get your tickets here https://www.trybooking.com/CEAFF.
This year we will again be collecting new stationery items and gift cards for Anglicare to distribute to families in need. The donations last year were so generous and I thank everyone for considering the children who will benefit from starting the year with new stationery items.
I wish you well for these final weeks of the School year and hope to see you at the Nativity, Carols on the Green or at the Awards Ceremonies.
God bless.
