At the beginning of the year, I launched our new Strategic Plan, with our revised School Values; Spirituality, Excellence, Respect and Belonging. These past few weeks have seen our value of Belonging shining through. A sense of belonging is equally important for our parents as it is for our students and staff. It has been great to see so many parents over these past few weeks at Parent Information Sessions, Assemblies and at the Senior School Carnival today. We held Open Mornings to welcome future families to tour both Calista and Wellard Campuses.
I am thrilled that the P&F met this week to plan events for the year, including the upcoming P&F Sundowner and Junior School Disco. I encourage families to consider these opportunities to not only attend but to consider volunteering to assist with the events. Thank you to President, Mrs Amanda Lee and the P&F Committee for their work in bringing a sense of belonging through these events. Our P&F are planning other events for our School community in the future.
Carnley’s Cuppas is a lovely meeting place in the School and the student Baristas added a new bench made in 2023. Parents are welcome to order a coffee in the morning if they are onsite.
The City of Kwinana are always a strong supporter of the School. This week staff from The Zone came to PCACS and information about the Lyrik Scholarships and Lyrik Awards was given at assembly. Please follow this link should you be interested in further information. Thank you to The Zone staff who set up outdoor games outside Moortang Mia each week and provide information about youth services in the City of Kwinana.
Swimming
In our beautiful country, the ocean and water are an integral part of many people’s lives. Swimming is a vital life skill and one where School and families can work together to enhance skills. Our Junior School students in Year 2-5 have just completed swimming lessons. Lessons help students navigate water safely and have numerous benefits like health, coordination, increasing confidence, fitness and socialisation. Students in Pre Primary, Year 1 and 6 will have the opportunity for their swimming lessons later in the year.
Our Senior School students participated in the annual Interhouse Swimming Carnival today. Warnbro Aqua Jetty was turned into a sea of House Colours. Thank you to Mr Simon Bell, Mr Chris Harry and the HPE staff for organising a superb carnival with the support of the whole Senior School Staff. The Prefects and especially the House Captains inspired a delightful sense of House Spirit and friendly competition. From the Carnival, the School Team will be chosen to compete in the ACC Carnival.
Staff News
We wish Mrs Jane Watts well as she commences Parental Leave in the coming weeks. With great sadness we will bid farewell to Mrs Nicky Jones at the end of Term 1. Mrs Jones commenced at PCACS in our Foundation Year and has held various roles over the past 16 years. We wish her all the best as she embarks on a new chapter.
God bless
Ms Felicity House
