I suggest that most of us thought we would be putting the challenges of COVID 19 behind us by now, yet, here we are in WA riding a wave of Omicron cases. I thank our families for responding so thoughtfully to positive cases in our immediate school community. We have been fortunate that many of the cases reported have already been in isolation, greatly reducing the risk to others. I urge everyone to continue to be vigilant to symptoms and potential exposure. Now that close contacts rules have changed, it is even more important that all families follow the guidelines and complete RAT tests when required. Together, we have been able to significantly reduce the impact of COVID 19 on our school with collective responsibility.
Despite the restrictions, our PCACS students have been fortunate to enjoy a number of activities, with staff working hard to redesign and reshape experiences for students. The modified Junior School Swimming Carnival was a great success. The Year 2s were treated to a Flamingo Strings incursion. The Year 7 Camp was replaced by activities days. At Keren Adventure Camp in Bullsbrook, the Year 7s enjoyed archery, high ropes course, rock climbing and low ropes. They also visited the XLR8 Obstacle Course in Baldivis and the Keren staff came here to PCACS to run a series of team games and challenges. The staff were impressed by their energy and willingness to give everything a go.
Crazy Hair and Funky Sock Day certainly lifted spirits across Calista and Wellard campuses today with money raised going to support the Leukaemia Foundation, Canteen and Telethon. This wonderful initiative began several years ago, inspired by two of our Year 12 Captains who were keen to support Crazy Hair Day. It is gratifying to see their legacy evolve this year to include Funky Socks and bright t-shirts for our early learners. I thank Mrs Katie Frampton, our new Service Learning Coordinator for leading the day of activities.
Keeping a sense of togetherness and community at this time is very important and I thank the staff for re-shaping the delivery of so many activities for the benefit of our students.
Go well everyone.
God bless
Ms Felicity House
