As we come to the end of Term One, I take this opportunity to thank our students and staff for the impressive accomplishments in this short and busy term. Highlights include the swimming carnivals, Year 12 Ball, Year 5 and Year 7 Camp. Since our last newsletter, we’ve celebrated Harmony Week and Crazy Hair Day, the P&F held the Junior School discos and the Year 6s enjoyed their much anticipated sleepover. Sporting competitions included the KSSA T20 Cricket competition and the Senior School ACC Swimming Carnival, where we won the Senior Boys Division, taking home the shield thanks to the Open Boys specular win in the final event, the 4 x 100m relay.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week is a special time at PCACS, with 36 different countries of origin amongst our families. Many students chose to wear clothing of cultural significance, whilst others chose the Harmony Week official colour of orange which signified the importance of social cohesion and meaningful conversations. With this year’s theme Everyone Belongs, it was wonderful to see the students involved in activities across the School. At our Senior School assembly, I spoke to the students about the importance of understanding and including others by carefully reflecting on our use of our words, actions and reactions. In the context of a broader national debate, it is timely to remember that everyone in our community holds the responsibility of ensuring that everyone feels safe, valued and respected. Our students have a keen interest in community building, with many outlets including Student Council, Anglicare Ambassadors, Peer Support, House Competitions and the work of our Prefects and Junior School Leaders. The future is safe hands.
Chapel Build
With work on the foundations complete, progress on the Chapel took an epic leap forward on Friday with the placement of the large wall panels. Now the beautiful shape and proportions can be visualised. The progress was documented in dramatic style by drone and can be accessed here.
April holidays
Holidays have taken a different direction in many ways during this Covid period. For whatever these School holidays bring for your family, I hope it is rewarding. For those able to get away, I wish you safe travels.
Happy and blessed Easter everyone.
