This is Harmony Week!
Harmony Week is a time when we recognise and honour our cultural diversity. Australia is one of the most multicultural nations in the world and this week the nation celebrates the rich tapestry created by the contribution of so many cultures. The successful integration of cultures is based on the values of inclusivity, respect and belonging. Our PCACS community is a fine representation of these values with our families coming from many nations with diverse cultural backgrounds. We celebrated Harmony Week across the Calista and Wellard campuses with class activities and dress up days. Our students and staff chose to wear orange or an outfit that represents their cultural background. Orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. At PCACS, we recognise the importance of being inclusive, respecting others and encouraging a sense of belonging. More stories of Harmony Week celebrations can be found further in this newsletter. Our Welcome Wall pays tribute to our diversity of culture.
Building Updates
The Chapel and Hub buildings are progressing as well as can be expected in this construction climate. There are significant works going on around the Chapel to prepare the landscaping and works continue on the internal fit out of the building. We will be opening the Chapel next term. I can’t wait until we can host Chapel services and events in this beautiful new building. The Hub building is really taking shape with the steel structure for the roof between The Hub and Science building now in place. The students have been witnessing the transformation of the building with dramatic steel rooflines and walkways, keen eyes will see glimpses of the new interior.
