Welcome back to Term 2
Our dry, warm autumn weather continued as we welcomed our students back last week for Term 2. Commencing with a Principal’s Assembly in the Keith Lindbeck Centre I spoke to the students about what it means to be an Anglican School focusing on the feature of inclusion. So, who is included in our community? Well, everyone – we are not a School that puts limits on who can and cannot become part of our community. We are a school that welcomes all people regardless of their family background, their culture, their religion, whether they go to Church or not. Each of us is unique, each of us is different to the person next to us, but we are all loved by God, and we are all just as important as anyone else. Being an inclusive school is why I love this School – why I and all the staff work hard to make it a special place for the students, in all their wonderful differences and uniqueness.
Student Events and Activities
On Friday 19 April, our current Year 12 Leaders met at the Archbishop’s House to learn more about Anglican identity, character and how to lead with integrity. It was wonderful to see them joined by PCACS Graduate and Class of 2023 Deputy Head Prefect Ada Isidienu who spoke of her transition from School to University and how she embraces the leadership qualities learnt whilst at PCACS.
PCACS also sent Year 10-12 teams to compete in the School Basketball Championship. Both our Basketball and Netball specialist Academies continue to grow in numbers, experience and skills. Especially rewarding has been the growth in character of the Academy members – their ability to lead, to work as a team, and to represent the values of being ‘good sports’!
The Year 3 students had a wonderful time visiting the zoo this week and Constable Care also visited both the Calista and Wellard campuses as an important part of the Protective Behaviours curriculum.
ANZAC Day
Today we held a solemn ANZAC Day Service in the Keith Lindbeck Centre. It is our honour to remember the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed force and to acknowledge those who continue to serve our country, risking their lives to keep Australia safe and to secure peace and freedom around the world.
Staff News
This Term we welcome some new members to our PCACS family. Our new ICT Manager is Mr Michael Raymond, and the Marketing and Communications Officer is Miss Maddie Eastcott. Mr Aleksandar Radulovic returns to PCACS as our specialist Woodwork teacher and Ms Fiona Lane is replacing Ms Alicia Walter as Head of Music and Performing Arts whilst Ms Walter goes on parental leave. Ms Aimee Leow is also joining the Mathematics Learning Area for this Term.
God bless.
Mr Steve Wynhorst
