This week is Reconciliation Week. The 2021 theme is More than a word. Reconciliation takes action. I am very proud to share with you a project we have been working on for several months. Year 9 student Jeremy Clowry has designed an artwork that has provided the inspiration for the design of a new staff shirt. The shirt is being sent today for manufacture, ready for NAIDOC Week. Jeremy’s artwork will also be used to design a badge for each student in recognition of our commitment to reconciliation. I thank both Jeremy and Mr Cam Allen for bringing this design to fruition.
We were also honoured to join the City of Kwinana Reconciliation Week Flag raising event earlier this week. Our student Hannah-Mae Rowse assisted with the flag raising and enjoyed hearing from the speakers including Lynn Coomer, Citizen of the Year.
This week the ACC Cross Country team competed in the biggest ACC event, where teams from all independent and catholic schools take on the course around Perry Lakes. The day proved successful with the team in great spirits.
We welcome Mr David Ricci who will be Acting Facilities Manager whilst Mr Noel Reid is on a well deserved long service leave break.
We wish the Year 10 to 12 students well as they prepare for the commencement of exams next week.
Junior School Parent Teacher Interviews continue with Wellard campus held this week and Calista next week. I thank all parents for taking the time to meet with the teachers. The collaboration between School and families is vital for the success of the students as they journey through School.
God bless
Ms Fecility House
