We are now more than halfway through Term 2, with the long weekend at our doorstep. The long weekend is well placed for students and staff to catch their breath amidst this very academically focused term. The Year 10s, 11s and 12s will find the extra day most useful as they prepare for their upcoming exams. I have been most impressed by the focus of the Year 12 students in particular as they ready themselves for their Semester 1 exams. We wish all the exam candidates well.
Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for the Junior School Parent Teacher interviews at both Wellard and Calista. The feedback has been very positive and this completes our parent teacher interviews across the school. We are now planning information evenings for parents with an evening designed to provide information on the Senior School for both PCACS parents and for families from other schools to find out more about the operations and offerings of our Senior School. The date will be advertised soon. Interest in our School is at an all-time high. Enrolment for 2023 in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Year 7 are well above expectation and I strongly encourage those wishing to enrol for 2023 and 2024 to do so promptly.
Growing student leaders is an important aspect of PCACS life. Recently the Year 12 Prefects joined students from across the State for the Grip leadership conference at the Perth Convention Centre. Year 9 students also had the opportunity to hone their skills at the Altitude Unlocking Your Potential Conference, also held at the Perth Convention Centre. Turning goals and passion into reality was the theme for the day, a challenge for all leaders.
Our 15th Anniversary Founders’ Day is only weeks away now. Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy AO, The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM and our School Patron, Dr Peter Carnley AC will be joining us for the Founders’ Day Service on Friday 17 June. Parents are welcome to attend the Service at 10.00am in the Keith Lindbeck Centre. The 2023 Scholarship recipients will be announced during the service and we will reflect on the first 15 years of the School. More information about the day will come out shortly.
I’m pleased to announce that Grace Chapel has now reached practical completion and we will be busy over the next few weeks moving in, arranging the furniture and getting to know the operations of the building. Grace Chapel will be officially dedicated by Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy AO on Tuesday June 21. This building will change the way we worship and gather at PCACS. After June 21, we will move our Chapel Services from the KLC into the Chapel. Events such as music recitals and the Valedictory will be held in Grace Chapel along with many other occasions. The landscaping, new lawn, paved areas and reinstatement of the nature play area are creating great excitement for the students as they look forward to enjoying these new spaces. There is also tiered seating for informal gatherings. With lots of parents joining us on Founders’ Day, there will be plenty of opportunities to view the transformation.
Have a safe and restful long weekend.
God bless
Ms Felicity House
