Founders’ Day
Founders’ Day is celebrated in mid-June to recognise the Blessing of the School Site, held on 17 June 2006, ready for the first buildings to be constructed for the opening of the School in 2007. Each year we gather for a Founders’ Day Service and a day of activities to mark the occasion. It is an extraordinary gift to be named after a living School Patron, The Most Reverend Dr Peter Carnley AC. The former Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church Australia is a keen attendee at Founders’ Day and other events. This year was no exception. We are hoping to hold another ‘Day with Dr Carnley’ later this year so that he can spend more time with the students both at Calista and Wellard.
The Founders’ Day Service was led by The Right Reverend Kate Wilmot, Assistant Bishop of Perth. The Welcome to Country was delivered by Noongar Elder and Councillor of the City of Kwinana, Mr Barry Winmar. Mr Ivan McLean, Chief Operating Officer of the Anglican Schools Commission addressed the audience and wished PCACS a Happy 16th Birthday. Her Worship, Mayor Carol Adams OAM, current and past School Council Members, the Anglican Parish of Kwinana and our 2024 Scholarship families were all in attendance.
As part of the Founders’ Day Service, we announced our Scholarship recipients. Congratulations to the following students who were awarded Scholarships for 2024:
The All Rounder Scholarship
Takunda Bere and Amy Chapman
The John Moody Scholarship for Sport
Hollie Reid
The Bishop Murray Scholarship for Leadership and Citizenship

We also recognise our long-standing staff by presenting them with a Service badge and certificate. Congratulations to Mrs Carlie Morphew, Mrs Hollie Dunn and Mrs Kylie Trent for serving PCACS for 10 Years. I congratulate them on reaching this milestone and for their contribution to the School.
Spirit Week
This year our Year 12 Prefects organised a tremendous addition to the celebration of our Founders' through the introduction of Spirit Week. Spirit Week honours our House Patrons with a day dedicated to each House. On the House days, the students considered the contribution of their House Patron and were invited to join in some fun lunchtime activities. Thank you to the House Captains for this wonderful new initiative and for their thoughtful activities, noting that the staff won the staff-v-students netball game. I am sure Spirit Week will become part of the celebration of Founders’ Day moving forward. Such a wonderful legacy for the 2023 Prefects. Congratulations!
Have a great week everyone!
